When I reached out about it, Amazon pointed me to a completely different company — one I'd never heard of. I remember being genuinely shocked. I'd always assumed everything on Amazon was Amazon. That was the moment it clicked: Amazon isn't a store. It's a platform. A stage other people's businesses perform on.
So I started digging. And the more I learned, the more one question wouldn't leave me alone: if other people could build something like that, why couldn't I build a version of it my own way — a platform for designers and up-and-coming creators making things on their own, without a name like Amazon behind them?
That question led me to drop shipping. I spent about a year teaching myself — no course, no mentor, just research, trial, and error, piecing it together on my own.
Then life happened. I hit one of the hardest stretches I've been through — the kind that forces you to stop and actually look at your life instead of just moving through it. In the middle of that, the name came to me: Undefyning Lynes. Not defined by one lane. Not boxed into someone else's category. That's where the name actually comes from — it's not a slogan, it's what I was living.
I started building this business during that stretch, sleeping on an air mattress in my mom's dining room. Then I had to put it down for a while — I went back to work, moved to a new city, got my footing back under me.
I kept trying to walk away from it, if I'm honest. But it kept pulling me back. New ideas kept showing up in my head whether I asked for them or not.
